Attractive White Wine Investment - Domaine Chavy-Chouet

Puligny-Montrachet And Meursault Direct From The Producer

Invest in investment-worthy Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet at under €100 per bottle. The 2023 vintage has not even been bottled yet. It's direct from the producer to your portfolio. There won't be a more attractive starting point than this.

...but you're probably thinking, haven't you just found some random wine from some random producer? No, Romaric Chavy is not like most winemakers, and so far, he is flying under the radar...

But first, I would like to point out that...

  • Consumers are increasingly looking for good Burgundy wine at reasonable prices
  • ... This is why there is high consumption in the mid-range segment
  • Wine directly from the producer's cellar means a low investment price
  • This is a Premier Cru produced in very limited numbers
  • Here, you invest in the general case for the future of white Burgundy, which looks attractive

Domaine Chavy-Chouet: Where Tradition Meets Innovation

Romaric Chavy is the soul behind Domaine Chavy-Chouet - a legacy created by two families with deep roots in the soil of Puligny-Montrachet and Pommard. With six years of wine education and experience from four continents, Romaric took over in 2014 after his father's death.

Romaric combines tradition, precision, and innovation as he manages his just 15 hectares across 14 appellations with uncompromising attention to detail. His dedication to the terroir of Burgundy shows in every bottle—there are no shortcuts.

At Domaine Chavy-Chouet, sustainability is not just a trend but a practice. From careful fieldwork to natural methods over chemicals, Romaric ensures that each vine is treated with the utmost care. The vinification is as refined as the man behind it: gentle pressing, fermentation with natural yeast, and careful aging in carefully selected oak barrels.

Romaric's wines reflect his character—sensitive but strong, precise but uncompromising. Each wine is created to express the essence of its appellation, be it Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, or Pommard. The result? White wines with elegance and minerality and red wines with structure and finesse.

Domaine Chavy-Chouet is not just about making wine; it is about perfecting an art, and Romaric Chavy is the artist behind it.

Here, you can invest in two of his flagship wines.

Romaric Flies Under The Radar - Therefore Limited Data

Romaric Chavy is a rising star in Burgundy but is still emerging—and fame takes time. Therefore, the amount of data in terms of both scores and price development is relatively limited.

The major critics have been relatively sporadic in their scoring, but the points that have been awarded show that Domaine Chavy-Chouet is definitely a wine worth looking out for:

In terms of price development, the data is also limited. However, it can be concluded by data from wine-searcher.com that the asking price of Chavy-Chouets Les Charmes and Champ-Gain, which have been on the market for at least one year*, have seen an average price increase of +10.9% per year since their respective releases. Very good for young wines.

No scores are available for the 2023 vintage, but it is consistently described as a good year for white wine and is expected to deliver at least as good as the previous vintages.

*Wines for which valid data is available: Les Charmes: 2018, 2019, 2020. Champ Gain: 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021

Potential In Lower Priced Burgundies

As the best and most expensive wines have only become more expensive over the years, we are seeing a shift in demand towards the mid-range segment in the French stronghold of fine wine—and this is where consumption is high. According to James Suckling, there is plenty of good value in Burgundy if you are not desperate for a particular appellation or producer.

Antonio Galloni from Vinous agrees and says: ‘There seems to be an appetite to buy those wines that are correctly priced [...] There is an ocean of wine beyond its most famous names that remains reasonably priced.’

With Chavy-Chouet you get exactly that - great Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault at very attractive prices.

Perhaps Most Importantly...

Chavy-Chouet is a producer we've been trying to get in with for a long time, and we've now succeeded, allowing us to offer investment in these wines en primeur - directly from their cellar. This means extremely attractive prices. Based on the cheapest price on wine-searcher.com, you save 19-20% compared to what the latest vintage costs - whether we are looking at Les Charmes or Champ-Gain. This is a significant saving on wines that are getting more expensive every year from the producer and are expected to be better than the 2022 vintage.

In addition, it is an investment in white Burgundy - a category where production is significantly lower than red Burgundy, which is already in short supply - and global palates are increasingly demanding the light golden drops. And if you want the best white wine in the world, it is by definition Burgundy. And both Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault are excellent choices.

... and honestly, would the wine lovers of the world even notice if the price of bottles like these went up €10, €20 or €30 overnight? The percentage return, on the other hand, would be something to understand.

Both wines are Premier Crus and are expected to have a minimum of 10 years before the quality peaks. The wines are expected to be bottled and released from the producer around November this year.
