New Release Of Macallan 18 YO Double Cask: The Lowest Price In The World?
This is the start of the 2023 release of Macallan's Double Cask, now priced below Macallan's own. If you want to be sure to be part of it, now is the time.
Whisky Must Be Scotch
If you are the type of person who believes in the future of the best and most prestigious, you should read this carefully. Because if you do, this will be of interest to you. By definition, the world's best, most luxurious, and most prestigious whiskies come from Scotland - a bit like the wines of Burgundy in the world of wine. And while there are several sublime players in Scotland, there is really one distillery that is just that little bit extra, shines a little brighter, and reaches a little higher than the others - and that is The Macallan. No question about it.
For the same reason, in combination with a production that does not match the demand, Macallan's good bottles have also only become harder and harder to find, which the price development since our first analysis and recommendation of Macallan Double Cask also testifies to.
But this is your chance to step into a brand new release of Macallan's 18 YO Double Cask, giving you the opportunity to offer future whisky lovers some of the finest Scotch single malt from the world's most prestigious producer.
So Much Whisky, So Little Single Malt...
As I said, Scotch whisky is just the best, but it is also by far the most produced Scotch whisky compared to the world's other major whisky producers - so much so, in fact, that Scotland produces more whisky than the USA, Canada, Japan and Ireland combined. On the other hand, up to 9 out of 10 bottles of Scotch whisky are blended, which means that only 5-6% of the world's total whisky production is Scotch Single Malt - and it is precisely in this segment that we find Macallan and the majority of investment-grade whiskies.
5-6% of the world's total whisky production sounds like a lot, but to put it into perspective, there are currently 143 working distilleries in Scotland. Here at RareWine, we deal with perhaps five to ten of these. In other words, in the grand scheme of things, this is an extremely small proportion of the total whisky production that a very large proportion of the world's whisky lovers would like to get their hands on. Macallan's Double Cask is one of them.

How Our Previous Double Cask Recommendations Have Performed
At the heart of the Macallan 18 YO Double Cask recommendation is the fact that we are dealing with recognised, high quality whisky from arguably the world's most famous distillery, where supply looks set to struggle to meet demand for many years to come. And since our first Double Cask recommendation a year ago, it has also been a very exciting time to be a whisky investor - especially when you consider how the world has evolved over the past year in terms of interest rate rises, uncertainty and fears of economic slowdown. This has in no way affected Macallan Double Cask:
The graph above is not an indication of when these whiskies were released, but when we put them into administration. As a result, investors who have followed our recommendations from the start can now enjoy a return of 25% in just over a year. But what is at least as interesting is that prices are helped upwards by the manufacturer, who sets a new and higher release price every time there is a new release. The 2022 release helped pull the 2021 release up, and now look at the level at which the 2023 release starts.
Exciting Outlook For Whisky Investment - This Will Affect Whisky Prices
Historically, whisky investing has been very attractive, with an average annual return of over 18.1% over the past 10 years, according to The Wealth Report 2022 from Knight Frank. But looking ahead, there is no sign of things getting dull - quite the contrary:
- The global whisky market is expected to grow by 44.9% from 2019 to 2027
- Growth is expected to be fuelled by rising prices, more new whisky drinkers entering the market and increasing sales of high-end bottles.
- In China (population around 1.4 billion), sales of single malt Scotch whisky have increased tenfold in the last 20 years - but the trend is for higher growth in the future and major producers are investing heavily here.
- India (population 1.38 billion) has a massive tradition of whisky consumption and is the world's largest whisky market. However, only 2% of this is Scotch whisky due to sky-high import tariffs - something that is changing and, along with a rapidly growing middle class, could boost the whisky market here.
The above are the main points from a previous whisky analysis, which you can find here
Rarewine Invest's Opinion
Whether looking backwards or forwards, the future for the whisky investor is looking very interesting, and Macallan's 18 YO Double Cask speaks directly to this development. Here we are dealing with a whisky of towering quality at a price point with a huge audience. A potential you can now take part in - at a price considerably below what you would otherwise have to pay for them on the world market.
This is the kick-off for the 2023 release, which you can get a really good start on. As this one is brand new, we will do our best to make sure it will not be the last time you see it here, but if you want to be sure to get in and get in at this price, now is the time to act.
Whether or not you have invested in any of the previous Double Cask releases, this really is a no brainer.
