The Coveted Vogue Musigny Delivers Again. Invest In The 2013 Vintage With Great Points And A Great Price

Musigny is home to some of the best producers in Burgundy. From here, Domaine Comte de Vogue creates magical wines that are now available for investment.

A Delightful Reunion With Musigny And Comte De Vouge

Musigny in the Côte de Nuits is covered in praise, prestige, and sublime quality. And it is Musigny that provides the setting for this investment tip. The producer is Domaine Comte de Vogue, and the vintage is 2013.

At RareWine Invest, this is not a new acquaintance. Fortunately. Read along as we dive into the history of the producer, gradually making you more aware of why there is investment potential in this particular producer, vineyard, and vintage. We can reveal that the price is good and so are the scores. Furthermore, see how the 2015 vintage has performed since we recommended it for investment this summer.

Domaine Comte de Vogue For More Than 500 Years

It is not every day that you come across a story of a domain in Burgundy that dates all the way back to 1450. However, this is where the story of Domaine Comte de Vogue begins.

Jean Moisson built the original building, after which the property remained in the family for several generations, following the women of the family until Cathrine Bouhier married General Cerice-Melchior de Vogue in 1766.

The French Revolution gradually came and stripped the nobility of both their titles and their properties. However, the family managed to retain their domain in Burgundy.

The Earl's Daughter And The Amazing Landholdings

In 1925, Comte (Earl) Georges de Vogue took over the domain and this was the start of its success. When George died, his daughter Elisabeth took over the domain, introducing a nature-based wine philosophy. She hired a new winemaker and turned her attention to marketing and sales. A keen business sense, good craftsmanship and formidable land holdings have resulted in the domain's well-deserved popularity.

Today, Elisabeth's daughters have deservedly become the managers, and they run the wine business with the same careful, professional, and high-quality hand as their mother did.

Comte de Vogue has 1.8 hectares of the Premier Cru Chambolle-Musigny, 2.75 hectares of the Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru and 7.25 hectares of the magnificent Musigny. In fact, Comte de Vogue's ownership makes it by far the largest landowner in Musigny.

Mythical, Magical, And Coveted. This Is Why Vogue Musigny Is So Special.

The name Musigny creates happy resonance in a wine lover's ear. Musigny produces some of the world's finest wines that only a few get to taste. At least when it comes to Domaine Leroys Musigny, which in a good vintage can easily cost € +50,000 per bottle*. The towering quality is of course due to terroir, but also to a large extent to the winemakers' knowledge and years of experience in the vineyard.

Domine Comte de Vogue produces their Musigny Vieilles Vignes from vines that are more than 25 years old. And there is no doubt that they deliver wine of very high quality. Yet at a price that is far more affordable for the world's wine lovers.

A price that has also resulted in the Comte de Vouges Musigny being extremely popular worldwide, which also results in ongoing consumption that has undeniably consumed a large chunk of the existing quantities. According to Vinous, the 2013 vintage only produced in the region of 19,000 bottles. Mature bottles are therefore already a rare sight.

Musigny Outperforms Vouge As A Whole

Fortunately, this is not the first time that RareWine Invest gets acquainted with the amazing wines of Comte de Vogue. In the past two years, all* Comte de Vogue under the management of RareWine Invest has given a return of almost 11 %.

It should be noted that the above is primarily based on more recent vintages, so this can only be assumed to be the start of the price increases. However, what is interesting from a Musigny perspective is that Vogue Musigny, taken in isolation over the same time frame, gave a return of 14.2 %**. Vogue Musigny has thus outperformed the other Vogue wines.

In the present investment tip, we are dealing with the 2013 vintage. However, according to Wine Advocate, the drinking window does not open on this one until 2023 and lasts at least until 2050. So even though it has a few years behind it, this wine is only just approaching its optimum. And the last 5-6 years on the market must undoubtedly have reduced the quantities available.

**Vogue Musigny from the 2010 vintage onwards, in regular size and whole boxes and perfect condition.

Performance Of The 2015 Comte De Vogue Musigny

Now, we recommend the 2013 vintage with a price of only € 600, and here, it makes a lot of sense to take a look at the critics' ratings of the 2015 and 2013 Comte de Vogue Musigny respectively. Across the world's most respected Burgundy critics*, both vintages score 95.6 points distributed as follows:

VintageBHWAVIAVG
20159796+9495,6
2013969596+95,6
*Burghound, Wine Advocate, Vinous

Identical average, roughly the same scores, but a price on the 2013 vintage that is significantly below what the 2015 vintage costs both today and this summer.

Rarewine Invest's Opinion

If we cut out the prose, the raw numbers remain. Raw numbers that show that the return on the 2015 Vogue Musigny under the management of RareWine Invest is 14.7 % in just six months. Because the 2013 vintage costs considerably less and is rated at the same high level, we do not hesitate to offer it for investment.

Adding prose, we would like to emphasize that we are dealing with a mythical vineyard in Burgundy, home to some of the world's very best producers. Comte de Vogue has a strong brand, which creates demand enough in itself. Musigny is Vogue's supreme wine gem, and the 2013 vintage is only now approaching its optimum. That means there are plenty of opportunities to put it in a portfolio and let it become absolutely sublime over the next few years.

We now have a limited number of 2013 Domaine Comte de Vogue Musigny Grand Cru for investment. These are sold on a first come first served basis.
