Only 964 Bottles Were Produced: Invest In Faiveley's Exclusive Single Parcel Cuvée

The availability of this wine is extremely limited on the world market. Now, you can invest in whole cases at an extremely attractive price...

Wine connoisseurs love and admire the legendary Burgundy municipality of Gevrey-Chambertin, where the Grand Cru vineyards of Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze attract great attention - and on Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Domaine Faiveley cultivates the fruit for a true Burgundian investment wine on a microscopic parcel, where both quality and history are in a class of their own. And although the supply is extremely limited, you now have the opportunity to invest in the first vintage of this wine, namely the top 2010 vintage - and this even in whole cases and at a favorable price.

Read on to learn more about the potential of both Domaine Faiveley and the Grand Cru Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Les Ouvrees Rodin.

Domaine Faiveley: Among Burgundy's Greatest And Burgundy's Smallest

For seven generations, the Faiveley family, straight from founder Pierre Faiveley to Erwan Faiveley, who today runs the family business, has had great ambitions for the domain.

Today, Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy's largest landowners with around 120 hectares of vineyards, while a total production of more than 400,000 bottles a year also makes Faiveley one of the largest producers. At the same time, Faiveley is particularly known for their Musigny, which not only easily costs more than €3,000 per bottle in better vintages, but also, until the 2014 vintage, was known as Burgundy's smallest cuvée with a production of just 170 bottles per vintage. From vintage 2015, however, this was increased to around 500 bottles per vintage, as the domain almost miraculously managed to gain ownership of several parcels in the vineyard.

By this, Domaine Faiveley proves that they have both the capacity and the format to handle volumes and also micro-productions at thousands of euros per bottle, without these two very different disciplines negatively affecting each other.

Domaine Faiveley's absolute top wines today include wines from Musigny Grand Cru, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru and the Grand Cru Monopole of the Domaine called Clos des Cortons.

7th Generation Redefines The Style

With the 2007 vintage, Erwan Faiveley marked the start of a new era for the family domain. With this vintage, he took a break from his father's old-classic Burgundy style to strive for lighter and more elegant wines that are both available young but also allow long-term aging - something he has very much succeeded in.

In 2016, the family started a complete renovation and modernization of the entire production equipment, which was ready to process the 2018 vintage as the first. The new facilities are expected to contribute positively to the development of both the domain and the wines, and if this is fully achieved, Faiveley's best wines could potentially be brought up to the level of Burgundy's best.

Despite this, Erwan Faiveley himself describes the vintages 2010, 2015 and 2016 as his absolute best vintages, where everything has come together perfectly.

Les Ouvrees Rodin - An Exclusive Cuvèe From Chambertin-Clos de Bèze

Among Faiveley's top wines, we find wines from the Grand Cru vineyard Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and from this vineyard, we also find the extremely exclusive cuvée called Les Ouvrees Rodin.

Les Ouvrees Rodin is Faiveley's tribute to the sculptor Auguste Rodic (1840-1917) and his timeless works, as well as a tribute to the bond between Rodic and the Faiveley family.

Les Ouvrees Rodin comes from a parcel of only 0.329 hectares in the lower southern part of Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Here, 60-year-old vines give the wine a uniquely elegant character and superb ageing potential. But while Faiveley produces approx. 6,000 bottles of "regular" Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, less than 1,000 bottles of Les Ouvrees Rodin are produced, making it both hyper-exclusive and extremely rare already at release.

Invest In The First Vintage Of Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Les Ouvrees Rodin

The 2010 vintage is the first release of Faiveley's special wine from the small parcel at Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. But while all indications are that quality has been extremely high in all vintages since then, it is almost only the critics' preliminary barrel scores that attest to this. However, this may help to indicate how little of this wine there actually is in circulation since almost none final tastings has been posted.

However, the 2010 vintage has received a final score from Allen Meadows of Burghound, arguably the most specialised Burgundy critic, and a final score of 96 points testifies that this is something special.

Scores on Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Les Ouvrees Rodin are distributed as follows:

In the 2010 vintage, 964 bottles were released and Burghound's score, together with Vinous' barrel score, supports Erwan Faiveley's opinion that the 2010 vintage is something special.

Secure Yourself Some Historic Bottles From The First Vintage Ever

Whether the world's wine lovers are superstitious, nostalgic or something else is another good question. But some characteristics just make some vintages and even single bottles more attractive than others. It goes without saying that wines from great vintages and of high quality are always attractive, but other specific characteristics can also be of great importance. For example, the bottle number, if you are lucky enough to get No. 1, or other round/funny numbers. But also, historical markers like vintage are also interesting to many. It can be the first vintage after a generation change, the last vintage before a fire etc.

Here, you have the opportunity to secure bottles from the very first vintage of Faiveley's Chambertin Clos De Beze Ouvrees Rodin ever, which on top of that simultaneously draws as perhaps the best Faiveley has presented.

Invest At An Attractive Price: Whole Cases Of Rare Top Wine From Faiveley

With a production of less than 1,000 bottles per vintage, Faiveley's Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Les Ouvrees Rodin is exclusive already from the release, but the available quantities of mature vintages of this particular wine are extremely limited on the world market. This is reflected by the fact that there are currently only two options to purchase 2010 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Les Ouvrees Rodin in whole cases on wine-searcher.com. At the same time, these cases cost €1,280-1,530 per bottle, while here, you have the opportunity to invest for just €1,000 per bottle. This gives your investment the best possible starting point.

Rarewine Invest’s Opinion

Domaine Faiveley belongs in many ways to the elite of Burgundy, but also has the format and capacity to move up into the very exclusive company. Domaine Faiveley has the history, the right land holdings and, not least, the skills, facilities, and philosophy to present world-class wines - and can do so on a par with wines costing thousands of euros a bottle, as well as the house's less expensive Bougogne Rouge.

Here, you have the opportunity to invest in the very first vintage of the domaine's Grand Cru wine Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Les Ouvrees Rodin, which in this vintage (2010) was produced in only 964 bottles. The 2010 vintage, despite a relatively limited number of final scores overall on this wine, stands as a particularly strong vintage and underlines the quality of both Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and in particular the micro parcel from which Les Ouvrees Rodin originates.

Add to this that the available quantities of 2010 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Les Ouvrees Rodin are extremely limited, and now you can invest whole cases, in perfect condition, at a really attractive price.

Altogether, Domaine Faiveley offers a strong and classic Burgundy investment case, where there is really only one thing that pulls down: We only have a few cases available.
