“Nothing makes the future look so rosy as to contemplate it through a glass of Chambertin”

- Napoleon Bonaparte

The History Of The Perrot-Minot Terroir Domaine

Domaine Perrot-Minot represents the essence of the Cote de Nuits and impresses with wines from top vineyards from Nuits-Saint-Georges to Gevrey-Chambertin.

But although the history of the domain dates back more than 130 years, this story really starts in 1993, when the son of the house, Christophe Perrot-Minot, returns home and takes over the domain after having gained his own experience in wine trade over a period of seven years. Christophe came home with beliefs and ideas and an intention to interfere with nature only where it was absolutely most needed - an approach and philosophy that, combined with the family's access to some of the best vineyards in the region, including a whopping six Grand Cru vineyards with Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Beze being the most prominent, make the domain's wines extremely attractive.

Christophe's return, combined with the hard work of the previous Perrot-Minot generations and the family's access to attractive parcels, has created a trend that has led to increasing quality and, as a result, increasing demand.

Despite more than 100 years in business, Perrot-Minot is today a "rising star" in the Fine & Rare segment. Now, you have the opportunity to invest in Perrot-Minot's top wines Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Beze and join the slipstream of names like Leroy and Rousseau and get wines from vineyards that are among the world's greatest wine brands - and at an attractive price.

Perrot-Minot: A True Grand Cru Specialists

The Perrot-Minot family has exceptional access to six Grand Cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, which makes them specialists in the discipline. The landholdings include parcels in:

  • Chambertin
  • Chambertin-Clos de Beze
  • Chapelle-Chambertin
  • Charmes-Chambertin
  • Griotte-Chambertin
  • Mazoyères-Chambertin

Today, the domain's vineyards are grown organically as a result of the family's desire to obtain the best and healthiest grapes. Yields of less than 30 hectolitres per hectare are used, which not only ensures high flavour intensity and balance in the grapes, but also, by its very nature, an extremely limited production.

Very Limited Production From Two Burgundy Icons

At Perrot-Minot they produce "Vin de Garde", which is French for wines that have great ageing potential - something that is particularly interesting for the wine investor, as these wines not only have an incredibly long storage potential, and are thus perfect for a long-term investment, but also develop impressively and are extremely attractive for future wine lovers.

Chambertin

According to Perrot-Minot, Chambertin is one of the five best Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy, and few wine experts would argue with him. The vines on Perrot-Minot's parcels are more than 50 years old, which helps to ensure high quality wine. Perrot-Minot only produces somewhere around 1,500 bottles of Chambertin a year, which by its very nature makes these bottles hard to obtain right from release. You have the opportunity here to invest in both the 2012 and 2013 vintage, both of which stand as good vintages, just after the big top vintages like the 2015 and 2016 - something that makes the price attractive.

2013 Vintage

Chambertin-Clos de Beze

Chambertin-Clos de Beze is located as a parcel just north of the Chambertin vineyard itself. Still classified as Grand Cru, but with a slightly different soil that gives more juicy fruit in the wines. The vines Perrot-Minot works with are grown with great respect for nature, just as Christophe wants. Overall, Perrot-Minot produces only 2,000 bottles of Clos de Beze per vintage. Here, you also have the opportunity to invest in two good vintages.

RareWine Invest’s Opinion

If you believe that the price of the coveted Burgundy wines will continue to rise in the future as supply continues to lag behind demand, then investing in a classic Burgundy case is for you.

Domaine Perrot-Minot is by no means a new name in Burgundy but is nevertheless a name that is on the rise thanks to Christophe Perrot-Minot's approach to the domain's land holdings and production. With parcels on as many as six different Grand Cru vineyards, including two of the most famous in the world, Chambertin, and Chambertin-Clos de Beze, and an extremely limited production of as little as 1,500 bottles per vintage, this case bears some of the most classic characteristics that have made the wines of Burgundy some of the most profitable investment wines of the past decade.

With Perrot-Minot's ability to steadily raise standards and quality, this is a producer that will be very interesting to follow in the future, delivering attractive Chambertin/Chambertin-Clos de Beze potential that otherwise costs thousands of euros per bottle if coming from brand mastodons like Domaine Leroy and Domaine Armand Rousseau, proving what a bottle of Chambertin/Clos de Beze can cost.

These wines fulfill every criterion to become the wines that future wine lovers will love to get their hands on, but only a few can.

Which wine or vintage you should choose is a matter of individual preference - here, the framework is simply set for a strong classic Burgundy investment from a producer with a great looking future.
